Strong 3D printed wall hook generator
One tapered stroke that is deepest at the bend, where the moment peaks, and slim at the tip. Printed hooks usually fail inside the bend, and straight-beam math under-reads the stress there. This one uses the curved-beam formula, doubles the load for a bag hung on suddenly, and compares the result with the selected material's allowable stress along the layers. The hook prints on its side so the layers follow the arm. It also checks the pull on the top screw.

Ask for the sizes you want to tweak, e.g. “make the width adjustable”.

Engineering checks
- Bend carries the load14.9 MPa inside the bend at 5 kg hung suddenly (curved beam x1.28); PLA allows 16.7 along the layers
- Top screw pull-out82 N on the top screw (a 4 mm wood screw in a plug holds ~400 N)
Adjustable sizes
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Load | 5 kg | 1–12 kg |
| Reach | 55 mm | 30–90 mm |
| Width | 20 mm | 14–30 mm |
How to make it
- Set the load, reach and width; the arm deepens with the load.
- Watch the bend check against your material.
- Mount with two countersunk 4 mm wood screws in wall plugs.
Print tips
- Print on its side, 4 walls and 30% gyroid infill.
- PETG creeps less than PLA under a long-term load.
FAQ
How much weight can it hold?
The check keeps the stress inside the bend under a third of the material's printed strength, with the load doubled for sudden hanging. That is a design estimate, so load-test your print and your wall anchors.
