Sculpted headphone stand generator

No boxes and no bolted parts. The stand is one continuous body blended from signed distance fields. A soft round foot flows into a single stem that tapers as it rises in one gentle arc. The stem then opens like a tulip into a cradle whose top follows your headband's own radius. Underneath, the cradle rises at 45° from the stem to its tips, so it prints upright with no supports. Two rails along the band's edges rise 4 mm above the cradle, so a bump cannot push the headset off the front or back, and it still lifts straight off. The checks confirm the band rests on the cradle with the cups hanging clear, the rails hold it, the headset's lift-off path is clear, the stand does not tip, and the stem survives a sideways knock across its layers.

Engineering checks

  • Headphones rest on the cradle, cups hang freeband touches along the cradle (28 mm³ of facet contact), less than 0.5 mm deep; cup bottoms 30 mm above the desk
  • Band is retained front and backrails rise 4 mm above the cradle, 1 mm clear of the band each side: a 4 mm slide either way meets a rail (853 mm³)
  • Cradle spreads the band91 x 47 mm cradle on a 95 mm arc: pressure spread along the band, no crease
  • Does not tipheadset centre of mass ~145 mm up over a 112 mm foot: tips at 21 deg (a 15 deg bump is fine)
  • Stem takes a sideways knock1.8 MPa at the worst section of the tapered stem for a 10 N knock at the cradle; PLA allows 5.0 across the layers
  • headset goes in30 poses along its path clear of every part.

How to make it

  1. Measure the inside radius and width of your headband, and the drop from band to the bottom of the cups.
  2. Set them and check that the cups clear the desk.
  3. Print upright with no supports.

Print tips

  • A brim helps the domed base on smooth plates.
  • Matte PLA or PETG hides layer lines on the curved stem.

FAQ

Will it fit my headphones?

The cradle is cut to the band radius you enter and made 4 mm wider than the band. Measure the inside of the band where it rests.

Why does it look sculpted rather than modelled?

It is built from distance fields that blend smoothly into each other, the way shader artists model shapes, and then meshed into a printable solid.
