Do unused credits roll over?
Yes. On Maker, Pro and Business, credits you don't use roll into the next month, and each month's credits stay yours for 6 months. They need an active plan: if a renewal payment doesn't go through, saved credits are lost, so we email you first and fixing it takes a minute. The 12 Free credits are a one-time start, not a monthly refill.
What happens when I run out?
Your design stays open and everything that runs on your computer keeps working: sliders, checks, test pieces and downloads. Only new design work waits for credits. On a paid plan you can add a credit pack, or move up a plan in one click: you pay the difference for the rest of the month and get the extra credits right away.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, from Plan & credits in your account. You keep your plan and can use your credits until the end of the period you paid for, and your projects stay yours.
What is a credit?
Credits pay for design time: the work of turning your description into a checked, parametric model. A simple part (hook, clip, box) takes about 6–10 credits: a plan, a build and often a fix. An enclosure takes about 15–25, and a 15-part assembly like the flying wing 250–300. Before you send a message the Studio shows what it usually costs, you get a receipt after, and you can stop any time; if one message runs well past its usual cost, it pauses and asks before going on. Moving sliders and re-exporting is always free because it runs in your browser.
How is this different from text-to-3D generators?
Text-to-3D generators sculpt a mesh that looks right. Loftsmith builds a part that measures right: it writes parametric CAD, uses real hardware dimensions (screws, inserts, bearings, boards), checks bed fit, overhangs and thin walls for your printer, and runs engineering checks like bending stress or tip-over before you print.
Which printers are supported?
Any FDM printer. Pick a profile (Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality, Voron…) or a generic bed size; parts are checked against its build volume and split with alignment pins when they don't fit.
Who owns the designs?
You do. Paid plans include commercial use of everything you design and print, so you can sell the products you make.
What file formats can I download?
STL per part and 3MF with every part laid out on a plate. Your design stays in your projects, so you can reopen it and change it any time. STEP export is in beta on Pro.
Is there anything Loftsmith won't design?
Firearms, firearm parts and weapon accessories. Everything functional and legal — tools, mounts, enclosures, RC and drone parts, jigs and fixtures — is fair game.
