Raspberry Pi 5 case generator

Every opening is cut from the board's catalogued connector positions with clearance, and each gets a flared, rounded mouth instead of a punched edge. The board sits on M2.5 heat-set-insert standoffs. The lid rolls over its whole edge, carries a hex vent field over the SoC, and screws down into pillars on the same standoffs. The board and its connectors are modelled as a ghost, so the checks prove that every connector passes its opening, the board sits free of the walls, and the lid seats over the tall connectors.

How to make it

  1. Set the space above the board for your cooler or heatsink (16–20 mm for the official active cooler).
  2. Raise port clearance if your cables have fat overmoulds.
  3. Print the base upright and the lid face down, press in four M2.5 inserts, and screw on the lid.

Print tips

  • PETG near a warm Pi 5; PLA can creep at sustained 60 °C.
  • No supports: the port mouths flare outward and the lid prints face down.

FAQ

Does it fit the official active cooler?

At the default 22 mm headroom, yes. The allowed range is 18–28 mm; much taller leaves the lid pillars as slender posts.

What hardware do I need?

Four M2.5 heat-set inserts and four M2.5 screws. The insert depth is checked against the standoff height.
