Heat-set insert hole size tester

Heat-set inserts need a hole that is just right: too small and the wall bulges or cracks, too big and the insert spins. This block puts five hole sizes around the catalog value side by side so one quick print tells you the answer.

How to make it

  1. Pick your insert size.
  2. Print the block in your real filament.
  3. Press an insert into each hole with a soldering iron at about 220 °C.
  4. Use the hole that grips firmly without bulging.
