Doll AFOs (softer, rounder)

A pair of little leg braces for a doll who needs a bit of support, or a story about it. Each one cups the foot and runs up the back of the calf, with small slots up the side for a strap. Change the foot length and the brace height to fit your doll.

Notes
The finer layer height gives the curved shell a smoother finish.

Hardware

  • 4 × 6 mm ribbon or thin velcro strap · About 12 cm each. Thread it through the slots and fasten it across the front of the leg.

Assembly

  1. Slide the doll's foot in from the open toe end, heel first, until the heel sits in the cup.
  2. Press the calf into the shell. It springs open a little and clicks around the leg.
  3. Thread a strap through the ankle slots and another through the calf slots, then fasten each one across the front of the leg.

Good to know

  • The 'doll leg goes in' check fails on purpose. The calf shell wraps around the leg, so it has to spring open about 0.5 mm per side for the leg to pass, and that grip is what holds the leg in. A design with no grip would let the leg fall out.
  • I guessed the doll's leg sizes from a typical 18-inch doll. Measure your doll's foot length and its ankle and calf widths, and set them on Adjust before you print.
  • If it's too tight to click on, turn up Fit clearance; if it's loose, turn it down.
