Rotating Advent Calendar Tower, 24 Refillable Doors
A countdown to December 25th you can fill again every year. Four numbered white rings turn around a ribbed red tower, and each small window lines up with a hidden treat. Change the treat size to suit your sweets, and a lid with a little knob closes the top.
9 parts · 304 g · 119 × 116 × 156 mm
Ask for the sizes you want to tweak, e.g. “make the width adjustable”.
How to print it
Parts
- tier-1 to tier-4 ×4 · PLA (cream) · Upright on its floor, as modelled
Each tier holds 6 doors (days 1-6, 7-12, 13-18, 19-24) plus one blank star stop. 118.9 x 116.4 x 33.8 mm, about 47 g and 68 min each. The day numbers are stencil-cut through the band. Each tier is a different part because its numbers differ.
- ring-1 to ring-4 ×4 · PLA (red) · Upright, as modelled
Fluted turning ring with one window. 105.4 x 105.4 x 28.6 mm, about 20 g and 33 min each. The 4 rings are identical, so you can print one file 4 times.
- cap · PLA (red) · Flat plinth side down
Faceted plinth with a low roof and ball finial; keys onto the top tier's collar. About 34 g and 52 min.

- Notes
- Engine estimate on a Bambu A1 at 2 walls/15%: about 316 g and 7 h 56 min for all 9 parts. At 3 walls/15% it is about 358 g and 9 h 1 min. Each part is a separate print of at most 47 g and 68 min, and each fits a 180 mm bed, so an A1 mini works too. PLA is stiff enough for the thin dividers and keeps
Assembly
- Set tier-1 (doors 1-6) on the table and drop ring-1 over its dividers so it sits in the groove inside the numbered band. The red ring now shows through the stencil numbers.
- Turn ring-1 until the window sits over the blank star stop (parked). Load the six compartments through the open top of each wedge before the next tier goes on.
- Lower tier-2 onto tier-1 so its socket keys over the collar; the three keys only line up one way, which keeps the numbers in a column. Repeat with ring-2, tier-3, ring-3, tier-4 and ring-4.
- Press the cap onto the top collar.
- Each day, turn the ring on the current level one click. It lifts slightly over the floor ridges and drops into the next stop. Tip the treat up and out through the window. After day 6, park that ring on its star and start on the level above.
Good to know
- The detent relies on gravity: the ring's own weight holds it in V notches 0.8 mm deep. It clicks gently rather than snapping, and a hard twist can skip a stop.
- Measure your treats. The defaults fit wrapped pieces up to 22 x 22 x 20 mm; set the treat sliders to your own and leave the clearance the checks report.
- Use wrapped treats only. Printed PLA is not food-safe for loose food.
- PLA softens in heat. Keep the calendar away from radiators and sunny windowsills.
- The levels stack on keyed collars and are not fastened, so lift it from the bottom tier.
- This design has been checked in the Loftsmith engine but has not been printed. Clearances and the click feel may need a slider adjustment for your printer.
