Hardware

  • Fender-style bolt-on neck (25.5 in scale, 56 mm heel)
  • 4 × Neck screws (#8 wood screws) with neck plate
  • String-through hardtail bridge · Check its screw holes against the 4 inserts (46 × 72 mm pattern).
  • 6 × String ferrules, 8 mm
  • 4 × M4 heat-set inserts
  • 10 × M3 heat-set inserts
  • 10 × M3 × 8 mm countersunk screws
  • Standard-size humbucker with screws and springs
  • 2 × Single-coil pickups with screws and springs
  • 5-way switch, 500k pots and knobs · One set.
  • 1/4 in output jack
  • 2-part epoxy

Assembly

  1. Dry-fit the four pieces on the dowels and sand the seam faces flat.
  2. Epoxy body-2 to body-1 on the neck dowels, then body-3 on the tail dowels.
  3. Slide body-4 on along the tongue and horn dowels, then clamp flat until it cures.
  4. Fill and sand the seams, then set the M4 bridge and M3 pickguard inserts.
  5. Hang the pickups from the pickguard, wire them, and screw the guard down.
  6. Press in the ferrules, then fit the bridge and the neck.

Good to know

  • The build only checked the default slider positions. I checked the slider ends by hand, so drag each one to its ends and make sure the Check tab stays green.
  • If you change several sliders at once, keep an eye on the Check tab too.
  • Check your humbucker fits the 70 × 39 mm pickguard opening, and test-fit your neck in the pocket before gluing.
  • PLA slowly creeps under string tension and softens in a hot car. If the action creeps up, reprint in PETG.
