LGB switch blade cover

Hides the moving blades and mechanism of an LGB garden railway switch, so the middle of the points looks like a tidy slab of ground. It sits over both rails, with a channel cut along each side to straddle the track. Set your rail height and gauge to match your own track.

Notes
PETG or ASA lasts longer in the sun, because PLA softens at about 55 °C.

Assembly

  1. Lower the cover straight down over the blades so each rail passes through its end notches.
  2. Check that the throw bar moves freely through the side slot.

Good to know

  • The rail height (8.5 mm), foot width (9 mm) and cover length are my estimates, not published figures. Measure your rail and set the sliders on Adjust.
  • The cover is a straight rectangle. It doesn't follow the diverging route, so check that the blades and the throw bar clear it at both ends of their travel. If they don't, use the length and slot sliders.
  • The cover isn't fixed down. It sits on the sleepers by its own weight, so a small screw or some glue may be needed outdoors.
